Though over the last few decades the focus has primarily been on the destitute elder, ensuring that the underprivileged elderly are reached through its various services in the areas of financial, health and emotional security. Changing family value system, economic compulsions of the children, neglect and abuse has caused elders to fall through the net of family care. Homes for the Aged are ideal for elderly people who are alone, face health problems, depression and loneliness.AWARDS is providing shelter, food and security to about 100 elderly people through two Old Age Homes at Narayanareddypet and N.V. Gardens, in Nellore, SPSR Nellore District, assisted by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India.
Day Care: AWARDS supports the health, nutritional, social, and daily living needs of adults through 4 daycare centers by providing meals, activities, and general supervision. The care provided is a medical model (including skilled assessment, treatment and rehabilitation goals) provided in order to improve participants’ health and guide their progress in the right direction.
Respite Care: Most of the oldage homes are finding challenges in caring sick, elderly, or disabled person, providing relief for their usual carer, are looking for alternate arrangements to take care of such elderly people. AWARDS facilitates such needy elderly, or disabled person through its Respite Care Home at Allur Mandal, SPSR Nellore DIST, Andhra Pradesh.
Legal & Financial Awareness for elders: AWARDS uses the expertise of legal & financial experts and conducts workshops across the country to organize workshops empowering our elders with this knowledge, so they can lead a better quality of life.
Physio Care: Under this program, elderly persons with musculoskeletal diseases such as back pain, arthritis and other age related mobility challenges are treated. The services are provided through stationary physiotherapy clinics, mobile services, and visits to residents of homes for the aged and home visits made by a qualified physiotherapist. AWARDS provides more than 500 physiotherapy treatments to elders.
